Put your shape down
Pick the board you want, the shape you play, and your colours. Nine boards, twenty-five shapes, and a blank eleven you can drag anywhere.

Move it to the next moment
Add a phase and you get a copy of the board you already have. Move the players to where the ball takes them. That is the whole job: the movement between the two is worked out for you.

Send it, or save the film
A link that plays on any phone, with no app and no account at the other end. Or an MP4, a PDF and a set of stills for the places a link will not go.

Then you mark it up.
Eleven counters on grass is a team sheet. What makes it a session is everything drawn over the top, and all of it carries into the next phase with the players.

Arrows that hold on
Pass, run, carry, press and switch. Fix one to a player and it goes where he goes, phase after phase.

Blocks and zones
A block that closes around the men inside it, or a shaded area in nine colours, hatched or solid, box, round, triangle or diamond.

Lines that stay put
Hold Shift and the line comes out straight. Lock it to the pitch and it stays with the grass, not with the crop.

Words on the grass
Click anywhere and type: a trigger, a coaching point, a name for a space. Any size, any weight, turned to run along a touchline.

Bibs, for a session
Split the group into teams without touching anybody's kit. A bib is a kit, so it films and prints like one.

Photographs on the counters and their names above or below, so a phase is about your players rather than about letters.
The kit bag
Seventeen pieces, drawn to size.

Sequences you keep
Capture a movement once, save it to your own library, and drop it into any other system, on either flank.

A camera with a hand on it
Let it follow the ball, pick which ball it follows, or frame every phase yourself and set how far it pushes in.

Nothing typed twice
Move a cone, a zone or a line and the change runs forward through the rest of the phases on its own.
Then it has to leave the laptop.
A presentation nobody sees is a presentation you did not need to make. So the export is not a file format, it is the six ways a coach actually shows people things.

A link that plays
Seven characters. It opens on any phone with no app and no account. Change a phase and everyone who already has the link sees the new one.

Landscape or vertical, 720p at 60 frames a second, encoded on your own machine. For a story, a status, a group chat.

PNG files, landscape, square or vertical, of one phase or every phase. Drawn through the same renderer as the film, so a picture is a frame of it.

Total Football Studio is a premium football tactics board tool that hands you the exact canvas our videos are drawn on. Pick a pitch, pick one of twenty-five formations and eleven counters stand in it. Move them to where the ball takes them, and our best-in-the-industry animation mechanisms turn the movement between the two positions into film.
See the Studio Does the Studio cost anything?
No. It is free, there is nothing to install, and there is no trial that expires. It runs in the browser you already have open.
Do I need an account?
To build a board, yes: sign in with Google and you are on it. To watch one, no: a board somebody shares with you opens on any device with no app, no account and no sign-in at the other end.
Do I have to animate anything?
No, and there is no timeline to learn. You pose the board at one moment, add a phase and pose it at the next. The movement between the two poses is worked out for you. It asks you to think the way you already do at a whiteboard.
Does it work on a phone?
It works, but it is honestly better on a laptop: the editor has a panel of controls down each side of the board and they need about nine hundred pixels of width to sit alongside it. On a small screen the Studio says so once and offers to send you the link for later, then lets you carry on anyway. Finished boards play perfectly on a phone.
Can I get a video file rather than a link?
Yes. The Studio encodes an MP4 on your own machine, landscape or vertical, with the ball audible every time it moves. It needs a reasonably recent browser (Chrome 94, Edge, Safari 16.4 or Firefox 130 and up), and because the encoding happens locally, the board never leaves your computer to make the file.
Can I print a board for a session?
Yes. Print any shared board and you get one phase a page with your notes underneath. It prints as vector rather than a screenshot, so it stays sharp at any size, which makes the same print sheet a perfectly good PDF to hand out.
Where is my work saved?
In your own browser first, within a keystroke of every change, then synced up to your account behind that. A dropped connection in the middle of a session cannot cost you the board, because the local copy is the one that was always authoritative.
Is what I build private?
Yes. Your boards sit in your account and nobody else can see them. A board becomes visible to other people only when you create a share link for it, and only to whoever you send that link to.
Can I put my club on it?
Yes. Your name and your club sit at the foot of every board, with ours beside them. Set it once in settings and everything you share after that is signed.
